7-Eleven has hired Terri Micklin as senior vice president of store development and facilities, Micklin and 7-Eleven confirmed to C-Store Dive.

Micklin will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, construction and ongoing maintenance of all 7-Eleven stores and related facilities, the company said in a statement. In a LinkedIn announcement, Micklin added that in her new roles she’ll support the company’s plan to open over 1,000 new stores in the next five years.

Micklin officially joined 7-Eleven on May 12, the company said in a statement.

“As 7-Eleven embarks on its plan to open 1,300 new stores across North America by 2030, I will play a pivotal role in executing this vision, overseeing critical areas including facilities, energy, design, development, and construction, and ensuring that our brand continues to thrive and evolve to meet the needs of our customers and communities,” Micklin said in her announcement.

Micklin joins 7-Eleven after spending the past two years as president of GetGo Café + Markets, the c-store arm of supermarket chain Giant Eagle. Micklin left GetGo this past March as the Pittsburgh-based retailer prepares to integrate its 270 c-stores into Alimentation Couche-Tard, parent of Circle K, which agreed to acquire GetGo last August for $1.6 billion. The deal is expected to close sometime this year.

In her new role at 7-Eleven, Micklin will find herself back in familiar territory. She served as GetGo’s SVP of development and strategy for over a year before being named president. For 20 years prior to that, Micklin worked in various construction, store design, engineering and acquisition roles for Wawa. She was also a project engineer for ExxonMobil earlier in her career.

Micklin’s hiring is one of numerous executive changes 7-Eleven has made at the SVP level over the past several weeks. In early April, the retailer shuffled the roles of several of its top executives, naming new leaders for its franchised stores, vault and proprietary beverages, center store and field merchandising, and tobacco and services.
