Schneider begins construction on manufacturing facility expansion in Missouri

Schneider Electric, a company engaged in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has begun a 58,000ft² expansion project at the company's current manufacturing facility in Columbia, Missouri, US.

The expansion aims to deploy next-generation manufacturing technologies, increase capacity, and optimise the floor plan.

This will enhance Schneider Electric's production of moulded case circuit breakers and air circuit breakers, as well as improve order fulfilment processes.

The initiative is designed to keep the company competitive and strengthen its domestic supply chain resilience amid demand from data centre and energy infrastructure developers.

Once completed, the expansion is expected to create more than 200 new jobs in Missouri.

Schneider Electric North America global supply chain senior vice-president Agustin Lopez Diaz said: "The US is experiencing growing demand needed to power AI and energy infrastructure. With this expansion, we are proving our commitment to help our customers meet this unprecedented growth."

"Schneider Electric is grateful for our partnership with Missouri governor [Mike] Kehoe, and we are proud to be expanding and modernising facilities like this one in Columbia to streamline operations, create new jobs, support our customers' energy efficiency needs, and create impact."

The ground-breaking ceremony featured Kehoe and local government and business leaders.

This project is part of Schneider Electric's recently announced investment plan in the US, which aims to support the country's energy and AI infrastructure, bolster domestic manufacturing, and enhance national energy security.

The investment, which is the largest single capital expenditure commitment by Schneider Electric in over 135 years of its history in the US, is anticipated to generate over 1,000 new jobs nationwide.

Schneider Electric currently employs more than 21,000 US workers and partners with approximately 40% of Fortune 500 companies.

The company's products and solutions are present in four out of ten US homes, 40% of the world's hospitals, and 40,000 water and wastewater installations across 150 countries.

In September 2024, Caddick was appointed to construct a new manufacturing facility for Schneider Electric in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, the UK.
