Stocks Open Lower as Wall Street Digests a Slew of Economic Reports
The Nasdaq Composite started Thursday’s session at risk of snapping its six-day winning streak after a wave of economic data painted a murky picture of the impact of trade policy on the economy.
The tech-heavy index was down 0.6%. The S&P 500 was down 0.3%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 123 points, or 0.3%.
Stock futures were already trading lower as Wall Street evaluated the market’s V-shaped rebound from its early April declines and awaited updates on wholesale price inflation, retail sales, jobless claims, and manufacturing activity in Philadelphia and New York.
