The Stock Market Is at a Crossroads. Buckle Up.
Suddenly the stock market is cruising right around where it ended 2024 in the wake of a staggering climb from the depths of April’s selloff.
The S&P 500 was up 0.2% on Wednesday, but only 157 of its member stocks were rising. The Dow was up 39 points, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.7%.
The S&P is now only down about 4% from its Feb. 19 record close of 6114.15 after falling more than 20% from that level at one point on April 8.
