Market Breadth Is Weak. UnitedHealth Is Helping the Dow Outperform.
The major indexes were recovering from an early slide, but market breadth was still quite poor.
With the S&P 500 down 0.3%, only 180 of the index’s stocks were rising on the day. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF, which counts all stocks in the index the same, was down 0.3%.
The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.6%, while the Dow, helped by a rebound in UnitedHealth shares, was down 22 points, or less than 0.1%.
