Dow Soars 1,000 Points at the Open

Wall Street piled into riskier assets on Monday following trade talks between the U.S. and China that paused the bulk of tariffs on Chinese imports for 90 days.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 1,050 points, or 2.5%. The S&P 500 jumped 2.9%. The Nasdaq Composite marched 4% higher. The Dow was on track to exit correction territory, while the S&P was trading above its 200-day moving average of about 5750.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said neither the U.S. nor China wants a decoupling, and both sides concluded they had a shared interest in balanced trade.
