Tecsys launches electronic shelf label solution for hospitals

Supply chain management solution provider Tecsys has launched an electronic shelf label called ESL+, designed to streamline hospital inventory management.

This solution facilitates real-time interaction at the point of use, enabling healthcare professionals to efficiently locate, reorder, and manage supplies.

ESL+ integrates two programmable buttons and an LED light indicator, offering a blend of tactile, visual and digital elements.

This smart label serves as a clinical-first supply chain tool, aiming to lessen search times, optimise restocking processes and eliminate the need of manual tracking.

The system seamlessly connects with Tecsys' Elite Point of Use (POU) platform, allowing for broader automation in clinical inventory management.

Tecsys Product and Technology senior vice-president Martin Schryburt said: “ESL+ reimagines the role of the shelf label as an interactive tool that combines visibility with action in healthcare supply environments.

“This innovation supports our customers’ goals of reducing waste, improving availability and minimising supply chain burden on clinical staff.”

Important features of ESL+ encompass replenishment via a programmable button, an urgent restock option for depleted items, and alerts for product expiration, recalls, and backorders.

The product also integrates with Tecsys' Elite POU solutions, comprising radio-frequency identification (RFID)-driven Kanban and case cart workflows.

Future updates are set to introduce additional functionalities, such as integrated LED item location assistance.

For inventory control that complements clinical workflows, the electronic shelf label technology offers an actionable touchpoint.

ESL+, as a component of Tecsys' comprehensive platform, contributes to lessening supply-related delays and manual tasks, promoting a responsive replenishment cycle directly from the point of care.

The solution is engineered for easy deployment across various storage setups, reducing the need for extensive retrofitting.
