Compal completes phase one of automotive electronics plant in Poland

Taiwan’s Compal Electronics has completed the initial phase (phase one) of its new manufacturing facility in Czeladź, Poland, a significant step in its European expansion strategy in automotive electronics sector.

The facility will focus on producing automotive electronic parts (AEP), particularly electronic control units.

The trial production is slated for late 2025 and the mass production is set to commence in 2026.

Designed for a maximum annual capacity of 3.5 million control units, the facility is said to operate seven fully automated assembly and testing lines within a cleanroom and positive pressure environment.

Compal first announced its Poland plan in July last year. The potential for a phase two expansion will be assessed based on international trade and tariff policy developments.

The move also encompasses the creation of a local business development and technical support team to foster close partnership with the clients in Europe on engineering and product development.

The AEP business unit (BU) within Compal Electronics is known for its transportation electronics products, offering "innovative and efficient" solutions.

It offers AI solutions, including object, action, and distance detection, crucial for advanced driver assistance systems like pedestrian-autonomous emergency braking.

The unit also developed “high-quality” land grid array (LGA) modules and network access device (NAD) modules, enhancing connectivity and data transmission for safer, smarter driving experiences.

Recently, the company has developed cloud servers, automotive electronics, and smart medical, utilising its integrated hardware and software research and development (R&D) and manufacturing offerings.

Compal AEPBU senior vice president Arthur Wang said: “This facility underscores Compal’s dedication to serving European automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-one suppliers locally, enhancing supply chain efficiency and responsiveness.

“Our Poland facility represents a significant step forward in our global automotive strategy. It’s designed to meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and technological advancement.”
